Today marks the day six years ago when I gave birth to my darling daughter. It was a horrible labor. I went from a 2.5cm to 10 cm in thirty minutes. Once my water broke the contractions were so painful that I was sure that I was going to die. I am not a sissy either. I delivered Shine naturally VBAC. So I can handle contractions. This was something else. I had taken castor oil because I was having contractions 3-5 minutes apart for two days. Something needed to give. I was also very young and thought the sooner she came out the better.
She was delivered at 2:04 am via c-section. She had turned during the labor and was now breech. They had to deliver her by putting me completely under. My husband wasn't allowed in the room. He had no idea if either one of us had survived. I had always told him that the first time that I get to see my baby that I was going to tell her the name that I had chosen just for her. I didn't get to see her for almost an hour after she was born. But he did. He saw her lying on the bassinet cart. She was facing the wall. He whispered her name to her and she instantly turned and looked right at him. And then he cried. I can picture it in my head, but I wasn't there. My best friend videotaped the whole thing for me.
That marked the best day of my life.
And here she is today...
As you can see, I am insanely blessed!
